Coming soon to a theater near you: Moneyball: The Movie! E-mail

Reading this news, I had to double-check just to make sure I didn't go unconscious for a while and wake up on April Fool's Day. Apparently, director Steven Soderbergh (maker of the excellent Out of Sight, along with a bunch of other half-decent stuff) and film/tabloid star Brad Pitt are hoping to make a movie out of Michael Lewis' Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game (a.k.a. the book about Billy Beane). Now, I know you want to ask me, But, Bob, how can anyone take the idea that Runs Created and OPS are superior statistical indicators and turn it into compelling and entertaining drama? And I will answer: I have no fucking clue, dude. Yet I will be happy to see them try.

My suggested tagline: You will believe Scott Hatteberg can fly.

Finally, I can say I've read a book before it comes out on the big screen.
