-- Juan Rivera is already the clear winner of my Fantasy Free Agent Pickup of the Year award. Two more home runs last night gives him 10 over the last month. (He has 27 RBIs in that same frame.) Unfortunately, I grabbed him in my cash league where it would take divine intervention to get me into the money. But being that, in this particular league, next year's draft order is based on this year's standings, I'm happy to have snagged Rivera right before he took off. He may be the reason I finish in the top half instead of near the bottom.

-- Franklin Gutierrez is also smokin'. Go ahead, open up his Yahoo page and tell me when the last game was where he didn't get a hit. A-ha! You can't without clicking on his season game log, can you? It's been awhile since he posted an 0-fer. Six runs scored in his last six games. Twenty hits in his last 10 games. He's another reason my money-league team is moving back up in the standings, despite being down Reyes, Ibanez and Doumit.

-- As of today, you'll find little social networking links at the end of all our posts that will allow you to post links to your favorite Hurler articles via Facebook, Twitter and more. We'd appreciate it if, when you read a post of ours you particularly enjoy, you would spread the Hurler love around and link back to it so all your friends can enjoy it, too. Fantasy Hurler is still a small fish in a big pond, but we're proud of our content and would like to bring more readers into the fold. By helping us out, it's sure to add a dash of good karma to all of your fantasy squads. (FYI, the links don't show up on our front page, just on individual article pages.)

Can I drop Bruce for Rivera?

If you're competitive in batting average and can gain serious points in that category, I would consider it. Rivera has always hit for average, while Bruce is likely killing you there. What Rivera hasn't always done is shown power like this. His previous single-season high was 23 home runs. So the question becomes: Has this last month and change been a fluke?

You should have already done that. You might want to try to stick with Bruce for the regression from .218 to .240, it could be a decent ride. You could try to flip Bruce for some upside to someone that needs some power, though. I flipped him for Hanson last week....
