-- Neftali Feliz is this year's version of Carlos Marmol. I really wish I had him on a keeper league roster. Even non-holds league teams need to be owning him, as he'll help your ERA out a couple points each time he is taking the bump. It has been totalling out to around five or six shutout innings a week with mad Ks. What, your team doesn't need that? You rather run David Huff out there for two starts?

-- Closers have changed in Chicago, Arizona, and Colorado (momentarily). Marmol and Juan Gutierrez are definitely now owned in any competitive league, so that train has left the station. Franklin Morales looked good tonight, so hop on it in daily leagues and see where it goes. Weekly leagues, grab him if you have roster space. But if you don't someone else probably will. Be aware that Rafael Betancourt may also get chances so snag them both if you can. I just jettisoned C.J. Wilson and Kevin Gregg for a chance at some Rockie saves. Street is saying he should be good in a couple days, but you never know with these things.

-- So, David Wright comes back for a game then sits the next night. Thanks for nothing, Jerry Manuel. Why don't you just send the whole damn DL to Jamaica until February and drop the medical staff in the shark-infested waters somewhere around Cuba?

-- Looks like Jake Peavy might get shut down for the year. So much for those vaunted September starts in meaningful games. Baseball in Chicago is now dead and decomposing like a rotting corpse, but people on both sides of town are awaiting Jay Cutler with bated breath. Can he give the White Sox a scoreless inning out of the pen? Please?

-- With Adam Jones gone for the year, Felix Pie is even more valuable. You should be paying attention here, kids, as you never know what you might get.

-- Buster Posey has just been called up by the Giants. Will he do anything this year? Perhaps. Yearly leaguers, if you are still looking for catching help off the waiver wire you are toast. Keeper leaguers, do I really need to hit you in the head with a frying pan about this one? Goodbye, Benji Molina. Meet your ticket out of town.

-- Milton Bradley is worth a shot as the season winds down. Now that the pressure's off, it is time for this monumental waste of a roster spot to produce and show everybody they were wrong about him. But this time of year, you can't be picky about names. He is hitting the ball well and he's possibly on the wire in your league. Kick Dye, Ibanez, Manny, and Hawpe to the curb if they are killing you and grab someone like him. I dare ya.

-- Speaking of outfield pickups, Seth Smith will be seeing regular at bats now that Jason Giambi is the new lefty off the bench for the Rockies. When they signed him, I didn't quite get it. But neither did you. Now I do, and will try to pick him up again. He profiles as the classic 300-350 AB wizard who will inevitably turn into crap at anywhere over 375 AB. Many GMs make this mistake, usually to the detriment of the team the next year. For example, look at Mike Fontenot's numbers last year versus this year. Why don't GMs understand that more at-bats is not always better? I am convinced Seth Smith is one of those guys. But I'd grab him and run with him over the next few weeks. It is highly doubtful that there is anyone else with the hitting skill he possesses on your waiver wire.

Speaking of keepers, I am in a league where you get to keep any 4 players from your roster at the end of the year.

I plan on keeping Teixeira, Lincecum, Johan (hopefully he bounces back) and one of the following:

Tommy Hanson
Andrew McCutchen
Gordon Beckham
Andre Ethier
Curtis Granderson
Wandy Rodriguez

Who do you think has the most value for next year?
I'm leaning toward Beckham...

Rule out the bottom three immediately. You're picking from the top three.

If this were my team, I'd keep Hanson and see if I could trade Santana in the offseason for a big outfield bat with a little speed. But if you don't think you can get someone better than McCutchen for Santana, keep McCutchen. Try emailing the other owners now to gauge their interest in Johan. Just know you are selling low. Otherwise, keep Hanson and draft offense for your first ten picks. Regarding Santana, you need to ask yourself if you think his best days are behind him. He is no longer the best pitcher in the National League. Even if you sell low now, you should still get a nice player that will help you now and down the road. There is absolutely no guarantee Johan regains what he once had. And banking on him to do just that is a losing strategy.

That's not a bad plan, Kevin. Especially considering when I first looked at his list I thought, "Well, I'd definitely keep Hanson, but he'd be keeping too many starters then."

I like the trade Johan idea that could be good if I could get some good value, but what about in 03' when he had the same surgery and then came back to have one of his best seasons?

You guys don't seem to be very high on Beckham, he hit 28 HRs and hit .411 his last year at Georgia. I think he could have serious numbers from a corner infielder.

Its not that I don't like McCutchen he could potentially be 30/30 (also I feel like he may see some 3 hole next year), but I feel like OF's are a lot easier to find midseason than a solid corner infielder.

I really like Hanson, he might be a no-brainer.

For those three young guys who do you think has the higher ADP for next year?

I'm posting this same post in the message board.
