recently inherited some photo albums and scrapbooks from my cousin sonny who once lived in chicago. when he was graduating college in 1958 , his dad(my great-uncle) went there on vacation and apparently painted the town red . some of the evidence includes a wrigley field program for the afternoon of saturday june 14 cubs vs reds. future hofers ernie banks and frank robinson were the big stars , but didn`t figure in the outcome. having his sole career all-star season, the cub`s lee walls went 4 for 4 and scored the winning run in the bottom of the 8th on a hit by dale long. cubs won 4-3. lefty reliever bill henry got the win by finishing the game with 4.1 scoreless innings. fyi : club seats were $2.50 , bleachers 75 cents. hot dogs were a quarter, a pack of smokes cost .30 , and a beer was 35 cents. t-shirts and caps were a buck apiece and the cubs jacket was $7.95(by mail $8.20)!
