Early Mocking 6 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I did this one last night...

C Chris Iannetta COL R14 P11
1B Adrian Gonzalez SD R2 P11
1B Joey Votto CIN R3 P2
2B Robinson Cano NYY R4 P11
SS Hanley Ramirez FLA R1 P2
SS Alcides Escobar MIL R21 P2
3B Chipper Jones ATL R12 P11
OF Andre Ethier LA R6 P11
OF Jay Bruce CIN R10 P11
OF Garrett Jones PIT R13 P2
OF Johnny Damon FA R16 P11
OF Nolan Reimold BAL R20 P11
SP Johan Santana NYM R5 P2
SP Chris Carpenter STL R7 P2
SP Jake Peavy CHW R8 P11
SP Ubaldo Jimenez COL R9 P2
SP Rich Harden TEX R17 P2
SP Ben Sheets OAK R18 P11
RP Brian Wilson SF R11 P2
RP Frank Francisco TEX R15 P2
RP Leo Nunez FLA R19 P2

Thoughts??? I'm light on speed, but I like my offense and I think my pitching could be a strength. If I hit on just one of Harden or Sheets I think I could have a solid staff.

good team. you made a slight reach for 1B( a deep position) at pick #23 and #26. i can`t help but think that grabbing either zimmy or the panda, if not mark reynolds, with one of those picks would have served you better. chipper is a huge injury risk and 3B is very shallow this year

Yeah, Zimmerman or the Panda would have been a smarter play in the 3rd round, but I am a huge Votto fan this year. Honestly, I think he's going to be a top 10 guy next year.

I think your SP group is the biggest question. Lots of major injuries in the last two seasons for most of them. If it works out, you could have a great staff, but I might have taken a little less risk after Johan. I also agree with the Votto man crush. If he can overcome his anxiety issues (which I think were minor) he will be money.

I've been seriously contemplating taking Joey Votto with the 20th overall pick in my big money league. I like him that much.

I guess I should mention this is an OBP league (instead of AVG), which makes Votto even more appealing.

For the aforementioned reasons, I don't think Votto was too much of a reach. Your pitching staff looks great. If Sheets or Harden has a nice year, you could easily pawn him (or one of your other starters, for that matter) to compensate somewhere else.

Meh.

5 of your 6 starters are injury risks, your closers are weak
your catcher wont hit over .250
chipper another injury risk
garrett is a 56 year old geriatric sophmore who yes does have power but rarely has anyone on base in front of him
who does damon play for? when he does sign what are the odds he will be an everyday starter?
nolan has proven what?

your infield is solid but the rest well... ide give it a c-, you paid wayyyyy too much on high risk high potential starters

Chipper's not an injury risk. He's an injury certainty.
